Books I Love

This page will continually change as I have time to write my favorite books and why.  I find it so rewarding to find a great book and share it with friends.  It's like finding a secret no one knows about and then the two of you can discuss this 'secret' world that no one else understands.  My girls that I can talk books with are my girls for life.
To me a great book is an entertaining escape from reality, usually to a different time and place.  If I wanted to read something really deep I would try to read poetry.  I don't.

Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
This historical fiction is the first in a series of about seven books.  I don't typically read time travel or science fiction, and this book does have an element of time travel.  Once I was able to suspend disbelief I was not disappointed.  It takes about three chapters and then you will be reading for days.  It's primarily set in Scotland, with the classic mix of the female you want to be and male you want to be with.  The main characters are so developed and I absolutely fantasize about the male lead in this book.  Anything else I can say could be a spoiler, but it's hard for me to stop gushing.  Oh, Jamie Fraser.  I love you.
(Writing this makes me want to read it again.)
